An invitation to inner silence,
carried by the breath of Polynesia's ancient sounds.

Who is Patricia?

A third-generation Polynesian of Chinese descent, Patricia was born on these islands that are, deeply, her home. For as long as she can remember, she has been drawn to the esoteric, to meditation and to the power of sound — those quiet paths that calm the mind and awaken something else within.

It all began with a gift: a shamanic drum from a close friend. One day she heard the Native American flute for the first time, and was spellbound. Her husband brought one back from a trip. With no formal training, by pure intuition, she began to play. Then came the singing bowls, the seed rattles, the sansula, the tongue drum, the nose flute… Around fifteen instruments, gathered over time, that today make up her living score.

After twenty-two years in the world of Monoï, Patricia longed for a fresh breath. She chose to turn her passion into an adventure: “even if it never takes off, I'll do it for my own joy and well-being.” Those close to her, who received her first sessions, encouraged her without exception.

Patricia simply accompanies. No title, no formal training — just a listening ear, a voice, a collection of instruments, and the certainty that sounds know how to find their way.

Sincerity, authenticity, kindness, letting go, discovery, openness of the mind. And at the heart of it all: bringing well-being to others — “in her own small way,” she says with humility.

What she offers is not an imported practice. It is sound relaxation infused with the Mana of Polynesia — that sacred energy flowing through every plant, every stone, every breath of wind. Being born here changes the way it is passed on.

KokoPatu

In the footsteps of Kokopelli

Before time, there was Kokopelli.

Drawing of Kokopelli, the hunchbacked flute player of Native American traditions, his flowered seed bag on his back, with a sun dreamcatcher and a cactus

Flute player and eternal wanderer, he roamed the arid lands of the American Southwest from village to village — his hunched silhouette unmistakable, his flute forever at his lips. On his back, a bag full of seeds he scattered along the way. Wherever he passed, the rain came, the crops rose, and women bore new life. Minstrel, healer, messenger between worlds — he embodies the joy of living, fertility, and transformation through sound. The Hopi, Zuni and Anasazi peoples carved him into the rock more than three thousand years ago, and he is still there, intact, as if waiting to be remembered.

This is the figure Patricia chose as her travelling companion. Not by chance. Kokopelli plays, he sows, he heals — never stopping, never taking himself too seriously. There is in that lightness something deeply right for describing what she does in a session: to give, to pass on, to let the sounds find their way.

KokoPatu walks in his footsteps — and roots them in Polynesian soil. Koko, like the island, the coconut, the roots of a tree drawing life from its Fenua — the land. Patu, short for Patricia, written with a U because in Tahitian the U is pronounced “oo.” A lunar figure: rooted, feminine. The same shamanic vibration, under another sky.

The Sessions

A session is a gift you give yourself. A span of time — around fifty minutes — to step away from daily life, release mind and body, and let the sounds trace their path within.

  1. Phase 1 — Welcome. In an individual or duo session, Patricia opens with the crystal triangle — a delicate vibration that prepares body and mind to receive the sounds. An invitation to enter the session.
  2. Phase 2 — Guided relaxation. Her voice guides the gradual release of the body. Every muscle, every breath. So you become fully available to what comes next.
  3. Phase 3 — The sound score. No written score. Instrument after instrument, Patricia lets herself be led by what she senses — a tension, a breath, an emotion. Her collection of around fifteen instruments offers her an endless palette. The sounds rise gently, swell, then settle.
  4. Phase 4 — Return and sharing. Her voice gently brings you back to the present moment. Then comes the exchange — the feelings, the visions, the emotions that surfaced. And a message for the day, unique to each person.

KokoPatu is for anyone who needs to quiet the mind, release the body, and reconnect with their feelings and their inner world. Men, women, teenagers — each finds their own way, according to what they are going through.

Some travel — through the cosmos, into a forest, along the shore. Others recover childhood memories, beloved faces, sometimes even a departed loved one. One person felt purified. Others go nowhere at all — and that is just as right: they surrender to a deep relaxation, a total release. All leave at peace — sometimes finding it hard to return to reality.

Sessions are not suited to children, who struggle to stay still for an hour, nor to deaf people without suitable equipment.

A sound, a language

In Polynesia, sound comes before speech. It runs through the chanting, the dance, the ceremonies — and more than that: it is part of how a people of the sea and the mountains reads the world. The cry of the Otaha — the frigatebird — announces an island on the horizon. The wind in the trees foretells a change of weather. The waves striking the shore tell of what is coming before it is seen. Here, sound is a language — between people, with nature, with the Tupuna, the ancestors.

Polynesians have always practised a form of sound relaxation, without always naming it. The Taurumi — traditional massage — is accompanied by chant. Ancient tattooing is done to the rhythm of a tool tapped against the skin — a therapeutic drum that leads toward trance. In all these practices, sound protects, connects, passes on, and soothes. KokoPatu belongs to this memory — the one where instruments are not played, they speak.

At the heart of it all: the Mana. That sacred energy moving through body, soul and heart, flowing through every plant, every stone, every breath of wind. KokoPatu's instruments come from this sacred Nature — the conch taken from the sea, the seed dried in the sun, the bamboo cut while alive. With each session, their Mana is set in motion again.

Te Mana no roto roa mai

The Mana rising from the deepest within.

Ma te heheu e te farii raa hae haa

In openness and welcome, in all humility.

Ta to varua e pupu mei

Of what your soul wishes to offer you.

Haere mai e ora amui tatou

Come, let us live it together.

Tamaru: to calm · Hau: peace · Varua: soul, spirit.
Stilling of the soul. In three words, the intention of every KokoPatu session.

Resonances

A few fragments, shared at the end of a session. Images, sensations, moments that moved Patricia.

The drum

A man recognised in it the cadence of a funeral march from his past. Sounds awaken memories we believed long buried.

Clarity

A woman, at the end of the session, spoke of a feeling of clarity — as if something old had just been gently dislodged.

The visit

Another saw her grandfather. When someone meets a loved one again, it means they have let go completely.

The seed

The same sound: for one, a flowing river; for another, breaking bones. An instrument does not speak in the same voice to everyone.

The moments shared here are anonymous. Patricia takes no notes during sessions; she keeps only the fragments people wished to share.
